Jose Mourinho and England assistant manager Steve Holland used to work together at Chelsea.
The Tottenham boss is hoping that good relationship, and the common sense of Gareth Southgate will see Harry Kane’s workload managed on international duty next week.
The Three Lions face Wales, Belgium and Denmark at Wembley in the coming days, but Mourinho has issued a fitness warning about captain Kane.
“
‘When you have such a player and you want to win every match, you play him, but you just can’t do it,” Mourinho said, as per the Metro.
“I believe Gareth and Steve [Holland] care about players and I don’t think they want to be connected with something that can be a consequence of this week and the three internationals, which is obviously too much.
“So I don’t speak with Gareth or Steve. I didn’t speak with Ryan Giggs either. I just leave with them the respect they will have for their players.
“That’s just my hope but I’m not going to call, or ask, or beg.”

Kane doesn’t get much of a rest at club or international level and always rushes back from injuries.
He has to be managed more carefully this season due to the hectic schedule, which is ridiculous for both Spurs and England.
Southgate played Kane through almost every minute of the previous international break, only withdrawing him late against Iceland.
England were abject in both matches and better performances from the team might give Southgate the luxury of taking Kane off early in the games to come.
