Tottenham Hotspur only parted ways with Jose Mourinho two weeks ago, but he’s already back in the game after a shock move on Tuesday.
Mourinho is the new Roma manager, taking charge of the Serie A side this summer after they confirmed the imminent departure of Paulo Fonseca.
Fonseca’s exit was inevitable, but nobody really saw the Mourinho appointment coming, given virtually no rumours about the matter ahead of the deal being done.
Mourinho will work closely with compatriot Tiago Pinto at Roma, and he may already have some signings in mind for the summer window.
One of them could be Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard, which would see Spurs and Mourinho go head-to-head over his signature.
In April, Tuttomercatoweb reported that Pinto was focusing on a move for Vestergaard, with talks being held between his representatives and the Roma transfer guru.

Sky Sports now claim that Spurs have made enquiries into a deal for Vestergaard, picking him out as a potential signing to bolster their back line.
Vestergaard is out of contract in 2022, and Southampton may be forced to sell on the cheap before he leaves for nothing – just like they did with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Vestergaard was a chief target under Mourinho, and whilst Spurs are retaining their interest, it now means that they will have to fend off their former manager.
