Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football.London that he is not paying attention to Liverpool’s clash with Manchester City today.
Spurs travelled to West Bromwich Albion this afternoon in search of three points that would take them top of the league.
It wasn’t vintage Spurs, and they had to work hard for the three points, but they did claim a late victory as Harry Kane bagged an 88th minute winner.
Spurs went top of the league with that win, even if only momentarily with Leicester City taking on Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Liverpool also face Manchester City later today, meaning Spurs’ time at the club may well be very short-lived.
Mourinho was asked about his side’s title credentials after today’s win, and claims that his Tottenham team could be title winners in many others leagues.

That’s a bold statement in itself, but Mourinho noted that it will be tough in the Premier League, and he isn’t really paying attention to other title rivals, promising that he won’t be paying attention to Liverpool’s clash at City.
“When a team is champion or plays for the title, there is always a direct relation to your direct opponents,” said Mourinho. “I would say that this team could be champion in many European countries. The Premier League is the most difficult one to be, because in the Premier League you can do a good season, can have lots of points, but in the end… Liverpool, Man City, Chelsea, Man United, Leicester, Arsenal.”
“So you can have a good season and not be champion. So what can we do? We go match after match. We try to win, we don’t care about the others. I promise you I’m not worried about Leicester v Wolves, or City v Liverpool. If Liverpool wins, it is because City loses points. If Leicester wins, it is because Wolves dropped points. So I don’t care, I just want the team to play match after match, and then at the end of the season let’s see where we are,” he added.
