Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told the club’s official website that Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura were practically playing in defence against West Bromwich Albion towards the end.

Spurs pushed men forward in search of a winner on Sunday, and it finally arrived when Harry Kane nodded in late on.

Tottenham’s desire to secure the three points then meant that they had a huge amount of attacking players on the pitch, as they looked to see the game out.

And Mourinho was impressed with Lucas’ and Son’s willingness to perform a defensive role for his side towards the end of the contest.

“They have three huge centre-backs and we controlled them from set pieces,” Mourinho said.

“The team had great solidarity in extra time. Lucas was almost a right-back, Sonny almost a left-back. I’m really, really pleased.”

Tottenham have now kept clean sheets in two of their last three Premier League matches, with Mourinho seemingly tightening up his backline in recent weeks.

Spurs have shown they have the attacking power to be one of the most dangerous sides in the division this term.

But Mourinho’s men have now shown a different side to their game, and really battled for 1-0 victories over Burnley and West Brom in the past few weeks.

Tottenham are now in second spot in the Premier League table, which represents a brilliant start to them this term.
