Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Football.London that Sergio Reguilon is ‘in the more advanced stage’ of settling in.

Spurs swooped last week to complete the signing of Reguilon, landing him in a permanent deal from Real Madrid.

Reguilon has followed Real teammate Gareth Bale to Spurs, and fans are understandably excited to see him in action for Tottenham.

The 23-year-old starred on loan at Sevilla last season, bagging three goals and five assists in 38 games for the Europa League winners.

Reguilon offers a real attacking threat from the left back, and certainly a more expansive option than the more reserved Ben Davies.

An ankle injury means Reguilon’s debut may be delayed, and Mourinho has now been asked about his current situation at Tottenham.

Mourinho has noted that Reguilon isn’t even on Tottenham’s squad list for European football just yet, because they knew he wouldn’t be ready to face Shkendija in the Europa League on Thursday.

Mourinho added that Reguilon is ‘more advanced’ than Bale in his settling in period, adding that he has ‘really good English’ which has helped him strike up an instant rapport with his teammates.

“Sergio no, he’s not even in the UEFA list because we knew he wouldn’t be ready to play this match so we kept the same list of the previous round, and Sergio not yet,” said Mourinho.

“Sergio is in the more advanced stage, he’s also feeling really happy and comfortable. Speaks really good English so no problem for him to interact and come easily to the team. Everything is going really well for them. We, as a whole, as a club, as an organisation, impressed them. They’re happy and motivated and the team is waiting for them,” he added.
