Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho has told Sky Sports, during their live Premier League coverage, that Matt Doherty didn’t even look fit yesterday.
Doherty was handed his debut for Tottenham against Everton, but things did not go according to plan for the right-back.
The Irish international struggled to show his best, as his touch was loose, and he missed a big chance to put Spurs in front.
Doherty was actually taken off by Mourinho as Tottenham pushed for an equaliser.
And Mourinho said: “I could feel some of my players are not fit, Matt was struggling to play the way he plays and the way you want him to play as an example. We had other players who were also a little bit in trouble.”
Doherty will still surely turn out to be a solid addition for Tottenham in time, but his side’s performance yesterday has raised alarm bells.

Spurs showed very little attacking cohesion, and were outplayed by Everton for large periods.
Tottenham are next in action on Thursday, when they take on Lokomotiv Plovdiv in the Europa League.
