Jose Mourinho has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale is getting his groove back after observing him in training recently.

It’s been a poor season-long loan back at Spurs for the Real Madrid attacker, who’s only earned 292 minutes of Premier League football so far.

But there’s been signs in recent weeks that the 31-year-old is getting back to his devastating best.

Bale scored two brilliant goals for Tottenham in their Europa League tie against Wolfsberger and also produced a glittering cameo in the defeat by West Ham United last weekend.

It has taken a while, but the Welshman is starting to look like the player that Lilywhites fans hoped he still was after re-signing him from the Spanish giants.

And Mourinho has revealed that from seeing him in training, Bale is certainly getting his confidence back to some degree.

He told The Standard: “In training you can see he has his confidence back, the way he hits his shots.

“You could see from his goal on Wednesday. It was a confident shot. A player with fear or negative feelings would never have hit that type of shot. To strike the ball that way, I think that strike means a lot. It means freedom.”

Last week’s performance against West Ham came off the bench but Sunday’s visit of Burnley should certainly see Bale return to the first XI.

He has definitely earned a spot in Mourinho’s starting lineup for a Premier League game and few would back against him continuing his fine form.
