Jose Mourinho has revealed that Carlos Vinicius will indeed get chances to earn his long-term move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Benfica hitman joined Spurs on a season-long loan this past summer.

Tottenham have the option to buy him outright in a £36 million deal [Sky Sports] next summer but Carlos hasn’t been getting many chances to prove what he can do.

So far, the towering striker has clocked only 12 minutes of Premier League football under Mourinho, with the bulk of his action coming in the Europa League.

Let’s face it, the North Londoners are only going to pull the trigger on a permanent deal if Carlos proves that he can cut it in England’s top flight.

And the Portuguese coach has revealed that the 25-year-old will certainly get opportunities to prove himself.

He said to Sport TV: “Alternation is important because Harry cannot play all the games. Vinicius will play many times, he will have the opportunity to prove the Premier League and convince Tottenham to buy him.”

You can’t blame Mourinho for not playing Carlos more often.

Harry Kane is on course to have his best-ever season at Tottenham which, when you look at his previous seasons, is quite a statement.

The 27-year-old has scored 13 goals and set up 10 from 14 games in all competitions this season.

He is, quite simply, playing at a totally different level right now and Carlos will just have to do the best with what he’s given game-wise.
