Jose Mourinho has said on talkSPORT (8:06am, July 12, 2021) that Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount did not play well last night, and has suggested that Aston Villa star Jack Grealish should have started.

The former Chelsea manager believes that Mount did not turn up for England against Italy in the Euro 2020 final last night.

Villa attacking midfielder Grealish came on as a substitute at Wembley Stadium in London, but Mourinho believes that the 25-year-old should have played more.

Mourinho said on talkSPORT (8:06am, July 12, 2021): “For example, yesterday, some players, they didn’t come. I don’t remember Mount, as an example, I don’t remember him.”

The Portuguese boss added: “I keep saying Grealish has to play.”

Disappointing Mason Mount

Mount is one of the finest young midfielders in Europe and did well for England at Euro 2020 overall.

However, the 22-year-old Chelsea star failed to make a huge impact in the final against Italy.

The Champions League winner with Chelsea could not impose himself in the middle of the park and was largely an anonymous figure.

The 22-year-old could not do much of note in England’s wing-back system or when the Three Lions went to a midfield-three.

Jack Grealish situation

Grealish is one of the best attacking players in the Premier League, and yet the Villa star did not get enough chances at Euro 2020.

In the final against Italy last night, the Villa star came on in the 99th minute.

There was simply not enough time for Grealish to make an impact on the game.
