Arsenal and Leeds United were both linked with a host of players over the summer transfer window – and one player was allegedly targeted by both sides.
The two sides met at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, and played out a 0-0 draw as the hosts just couldn’t quite break down Mikel Arteta’s side.
On Sunday, there was also news about a player looked at by both Arsenal and Leeds over the summer – Dijon star Mounir Chouiar.
Back in September, L’Equipe reported that Chouiar was left out of a clash with Brest due to interest from Arsenal, Leeds and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
A deal worth up to €20million (£18million) was thought to be in the pipeline, but Chouiar ended up staying at Dijon when October’s international transfer deadline hit.
Now, manager David Linares has told L’Equipe that Chouiar was left out of this weekend’s came with Lens because he was late for preparations.
Linares suggested that Chouiar needs to learn professionalism, and Dijon won’t tolerate this kind of behaviour from their talented winger.
“The key word is professionalism, he’s a young player, he still has things to learn,” said Linares. “We cannot tolerate these behaviours,” he added.
Chouiar has picked up two assists in nine games this season, but the 21-year-old’s attitude at Dijon is unlikely to impress Arteta or Marcelo Bielsa.
