German journalist Christian Falk has reported that Youssoufa Moukoko has decided to extend his contract with Borussia Dortmund, despite Newcastle United promising a much more lucrative package.

Recently, transfer insider Fabrizio Romano had also hinted at the possibility that the German international could end up staying at the Westfalenstadion, in his column for Caught Offside.

Now, it seems Moukoko has his heart set on staying at Borussia Dortmund, despite the lucrative package on the table from Newcastle.

Ultimately, one can fully understand why the Magpies were seemingly hell-bent on signing the 18-year-old forward.

Youssoufa Moukoko is rightly regarded as one of the most prodigious young players in the world.

With 6 goals and 4 assists in the Bundesliga this season, the teenager is surprisingly having an impressive campaign, despite playing in an unnatural position as a striker on a number of occasions.

Considering the prodigy is having his finest season to date, while not even regularly playing on the wing, it has been hugely impressive to witness his remarkable development as a player.

While Moukoko leaving Dortmund to join Newcastle would also have made plenty of sense, he is seemingly not lured one bit by the package on offer and most importantly, the prospect of leaving the German side.

Also, keeping in mind that Moukoko’s contract was set to expire in the summer, it only made sense.

However, now, it seems a switch to St. James’ Park seems out of the picture for the in-demand attacker.

Christian Falk has written in his column for Caught Offside that despite Newcastle United offering a package worth £6 million more than the one offered by Borussia Dortmund, Youssoufa Moukoko plans to extend his stay.

“Youssoufa Moukoko has decided to extend his stay with Borussia Dortmund, signing a contract that will keep him with the club until 2026.

“The player will earn €6 million per year on top of a €10 million signing fee (with his agent, Patrick Williams, receiving a €5 million fee), with the package totalling €33 million.”

“It’s rumoured that Newcastle did offer to pay a €30 million signing fee, plus a €10 million salary to try and prise the player away from Dortmund.”

Ultimately, Newcastle may simply move on, as Youssoufa Moukoko is clearly uninterested in the lucrative package on offer and has his heart set on continuing his love affair with Borussia Dortmund.
