MotoGP is exploding worldwide, and the attendance figures for 2025 show how Liberty Media have already had somewhat of an effect on the sport’s popularity.

The announcement of Liberty Media’s acquisition of MotoGP was very big news for the sport when it was revealed earlier in the year.

After turning Formula 1 into a global success, the American mass media company firmly set their sights on its two-wheeled counterparts.

Whilst there has been some friction with die-hard fans of the Grand Prix motorcycle racing category, the overarching narrative is that the boost in popularity will no doubt make the sport more sustainable in the future.

The effect of Liberty Media’s prowess in growing MotoGP has already taken shape through the increase in attendance figures this season.

A recent report by Motosport Magazin has detailed the numbers behind MotoGP’s record-breaking 2025 term.

The 2024 premier class campaign saw attendance figures reach the three-million mark for the first time since attendance tracking began.

Over the 20-round calendar, 3,033,255 spectators attended races to watch the world’s very best duke it out in 40 races across both formats.

However, 2025 made that achievement look modest. This year’s edition of the MotoGP world championship drew 3,660,716 fans across 22 different weekends.

Yes, they had two more rounds this year than last, but the average numbers for each weekend don’t lie either.

The average attendance jumped from 151,663 to 166,396 per Grand Prix, an increase of nearly 15,000 spectators per weekend, which is more than one whole grandstand’s worth of spectators.

The French Grand Prix excels, whereas the British and Austrian Grand Prix falter

The French Grand Prix at Le Mans was the most attended race weekend of the 22-round calendar in 2025, where fans set another attendance record.

Last year, 297,471 visitors visited the Bugatti Circuit over the course of the weekend to see Jorge Martin do the double and win his second Grand Prix of the season on the way to the title.

This year, however, saw attendance figures reach over 300,000 for the first time in the history of the premier class.

311,797 spectators embraced the rain-soaked race weekend at Le Mans in 2025, where they were able to watch Johann Zarco become the home town hero as he took the second win of his career.

On the other hand, Austria and Great Britain were the only two events that stood out negatively.

Less than 100,000 people visited the British Grand Prix in May, which marked the first time that six figures hadn’t been reached in attendance since its return to the calendar in 2010.

At the Red Bull Ring, attendance had dropped by over 33,000 from last year, despite the event offering the most extensive support program of any other race weekend on the current calendar.
