Celtic’s deal for David Turnbull appears to be over once and for all.

Finally, once and for all, the saga surrounding Motherwell’s David Turnbull and a potential move to Celtic is over.

Two weeks ago, Celtic agreed a deal to sign Turnbull, and it seemed like the teenager would be heading to Parkhead after a 16-goal season from midfielder.

However, just two days after agreeing a deal, Celtic confirmed that they had failed to find an agreement to sign Turnbull, and were leaving their ‘fantastic’ offer on the table.

Days later, Celtic backed out of the race, and it looked like he was set for Norwich City in the Premier League, before the Bhoys resurrected a deal at the last minute and agreed terms with Turnbull, handing him a medical.

Sadly, this on and off saga took another bizarre twist as Celtic found a knee issue in Turnbull’s medical, meaning they went back to Motherwell to try and renegotiate their deal.

Motherwell have stood firm though, refusing to give Celtic a discount as Turnbull faces six months out once he’d undergone surgery on his knee issue.

Motherwell confirmed the news earlier today, and fans have been responding by wishing Turnbull the best in his recovery, whilst feeling that Fir Park is the best place for him anyway.

Others now feel that there’s no way Motherwell will get £3million for the teenager with that knee issue, but mostly hope to see him thrive with Motherwell until the time really is right for him to move on, praising the club for standing strong against Celtic.
