Nottingham Forest’s Gboly Ariyibi is currently on loan at Motherwell.

Motherwell boss Stephen Robinson says he hopes to re-sign Nottingham Forest’s Gboly Ariyibi this summer following an impressive loan spell with the Scottish Premiership club, Motherwell Times report.
“I thought Gboly was excellent [during the 4-3 win over Dundee], especially when we went down to 10 men. He’s a talented boy. We’re hopeful to get him back again next year and progressing his career,” Robinson explained.
Ariyibi joined Motherwell in January on loan until the end of the season.
The United States born winger originally came through the Southampton academy before signing a short-term deal at Leeds United and later a three-year deal at Chesterfield.
Ariyibi impressed in the lower leagues, prompting Nottingham Forest to sign him in January 2017. Much was expected of the player, yet he struggled to break in under then boss Mark Warburton.
After further loan spells at MK Dons and Northampton Town, he joined Motherwell in January where he has gone on to become a regular in the side, making 14 league appearances.

Ariyibi’s contract at Forest expires in the summer of 2020. It remains to be seen whether the Reds will allow him to move out on loan again this summer and risk losing him for free 12 months down the line.
It may be in Forest’s best interest to seek a fee for him at the end of the current campaign if the Championship club decide his long-term future lies away from the City Ground.
