Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has hailed Graham Dorrans.

Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he is ‘really happy’ for midfielder Graham Dorrans after his two-goal display in the 2-1 victory over Motherwell on Sunday afternoon.

The Gers opened their league campaign with a trip to Fir Park on Sunday, and took an early lead when Bruno Alves crossed for Kenny Miller, and his knockdown allowed Dorrans to smash the ball home with the aid of a deflection.

The hosts did fight back though, and after Rangers switched off from a free kick, defender Ben Heneghan sneaked in at the back post to send a diving header past Wes Foderingham for the equaliser.

However, Rangers did claim all three points in the second half, as Fabio Cardoso was elbowed by Louis Moult for a penalty, and Dorrans stepped up to convert from 12 yards.

The midfielder was the hero for Rangers in the first game of the season, giving fans a glimpse of just how important he will be during his time at Ibrox having joined from Norwich City over the summer.

A Scotland international midfielder, Dorrans grew up supporting Rangers, and pushed for a deal to be done over the summer after the Gers had failed with a number of bids to hand the Glasgow-born ace his dream move to Ibrox.

Not only did Dorrans fulfil his dream of playing for Rangers on Sunday, but he capped it off with two debut goals in what was a dream afternoon for the 30-year-old summer signing.

After the final whistle, Caixinha told the Glasgow Evening Times that he is ‘really happy’ for Dorrans, as he is a boyhood Rangers fan with so much passion for the club, and got a perfect afternoon with his debut, two goals and all three points.

“I’m really happy for Graham Dorrans. At 29, he is playing for his lifetime club,” said Caixinha. “He is really a Rangers supporter, he is really passionate about the club. So I’m happy he could give us the two goals which allowed us to take three points back home,” he added.
