Some Everton fans on social media have been raving over Ben Godfrey’s showing against Leeds United on Wednesday evening.
The former Norwich City man has had plenty of praise this season, and his performance against the Whites showed exactly why he deserves all of the plaudits that have been coming his way.
Godfrey was a rock at the back, and despite the fact he was playing out of position against one of the most energetic and attacking teams in the division, he looked dominant.
Indeed, the defender’s stats were shown in a tweet by the club, and his numbers were absolutely incredible.
He won three duels, made two interceptions, seven clearances and four recoveries, all in all, playing a massive part in Everton coming away from Elland Road with three points.
This win has put Everton right back into the mix for a top four spot, and if Godfrey keeps performing like this, there’s no reason they can’t make a serious push for one of the premier European places come the end of the season.
