Micah Richards has labelled James Milner as the ‘most underrated’ player in Premier League history and defended the Liverpool ace on Instagram.

A Manchester City supporter told Richards that she ‘can’t like’ or agree with Richards post about the Liverpool title-winner because he left the Etihad in a ‘bad way’.

But the former England right-back came to the aide of the Leeds academy product and responded by saying: ‘His [Milner’s words] were taken out of context’ when he left the Manchester-based club.

This was the message Richards sent about Milner on Instagram – click on the link to read the comments to his post and his response.

Looking back on Milner’s career, it’s fair to say that he has played for some of the biggest clubs in England.

There’s no doubt that every time he has stepped onto the pitch, he has been playing with massive pressure on his shoulders because of the size of clubs he has represented.

He started his career at Leeds, who reached the semi-finals of the Champions League during the start of the noughties.

Milner also put on the shirt of Newcastle and was very consistent for an Aston Villa side that were pushing for Champions League football during the mid to late noughties.

That’s when he made the switch to the Etihad Stadium where he won the Premier League title, among other trophies, and he has carried that success with him to Merseyside.
