Leeds United fans have reacted to the news that Sheffield Wednesday have sacked Garry Monk after just over a year in charge.
The 41-year-old has managed the likes of Swansea, Leeds, Middlesbrough and Birmingham during his managerial career, but he’s not lasted that long at those clubs – 77 games at Swans is the longest he has remained at a single gig.
Nonetheless, the Leeds faithful reacted to the news of Monk getting the chop and some were reminiscing about his time at Elland Road.
Whilst Monk didn’t finish in the play-offs at Leeds, he did bring the enjoyment back during his small stint at the club, as they narrowly missed out on a top-six finish.
At the time, he was on a rolling contract and the Whites were switching owners from Massimo Cellino to their current man in charge Andrea Radrizzani.
Many supporters wanted Monk to stay because he had brought such positivity to the club, but there seemed to be mixed messages coming from both Monk himself and Radrizzani in regards to him staying.

Either way, whilst those in Leeds appreciate what the former centre-back did, and whilst it didn’t directly result in Marcelo Bielsa joining the club, they did end up with him and they are now loving life in the Premier League.
