Rubin Kazan’s Moritz Bauer has responded to interest from West Ham.
Moritz Bauer (R) in action
Rubin Kazan defender Moritz Bauer has told Tutto Mercato Web that he is ‘honoured’ to be on the radar of West Ham United.
Bauer, 25, made his name in his native Switzerland with Grasshopper Zurich, racking up almost 100 league appearances for the club following a 2010 move from FC Winterthur.
After impressing with Grasshopper, Bauer was snapped up by Russian side Rubin Kazan last summer, with manager Javi Garcia splashing the cash on new signings.
Whilst Alex Song, Maxime Lestienne and Jonathas were three of the main additions, right back Bauer flew under the radar, and he has notched three assists in 19 appearances this season.

Bauer has impressed despite Rubin languishing in 11th place in the Russian Premier League table, and his exploits appear to have triggered interest in his signature.
Tutto Mercato Web note that Inter Milan, Valencia and West Ham United are all keen to sign Bauer this summer – and even asked the right back about his future.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
Bauer responded by saying it’s an honour to be linked with those three teams, and whilst he is happy with Rubin, he would consider an offer to leave the club this summer if it’s right for all parties.
“It ‘s an honour that teams of this calibre are interested in me,” said Bauer. “At the moment I am happy with Rubin Kazan, where I can still grow a lot, but if very good deal for all parties involved comes in the summer, I will evaluate it carefully,” he added.
West Ham have endured a number of problems at right back, and should be in the market for another this summer, with Bauer a possible option – even if he’s still something of an unknown in Europe.
