Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has told BeIN Sport that he would like to join Strasbourg or Marseille once he leaves Goodison Park.

A star with Southampton who struggled to establish himself with Manchester United, Schneiderlin made a £22million move to Everton in January 2017 (BBC Sport), and was seen as a major addition.

The Frenchman thrived early on as he reunited with his ex-Southampton boss Ronald Koeman, but he has endured a difficult campaign, much like many Everton players have.

Schneiderlin, 28, has been slammed by fans throughout the season for his poor performances, with many claiming that he hasn’t been worthy of first-team football.

Recent displays have been a slight improvement for Schneiderlin, but few Everton fans would be distraught if he was to be sold during this summer’s transfer window.

Now, Schneiderlin has told BeIN Sport that, whenever he does leave Everton, he doesn’t want to stay in the Premier League, as he needs a different challenge having played for three top flight English clubs.

Schneiderlin added that two clubs particularly take his fancy; former club and hometown side Strasbourg, and the club he grew up supporting, Marseille, potentially leaving Everton fans hoping for his departure.

“If I have to leave Everton, I’d like a different challenge than the Premier League. I’ve already been to Southampton, Manchester United and Everton. I don’t see myself going anywhere else in England,” said Schneiderlin. “Since I come from there, I keep an eye on Strasbourg, but when I was younger, I always supported Marseille,” he added.
