Everton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin believes that teammate Dominic Calvert-Lewin has the strengths that make him a vital part of the squad.

The 21-year-old attacker has started just two of his four games so far this campaign, but he’s managed three goals already for the Toffees in return.

He was on hand to net a brace in a EFL Cup win over Rotherham United, while he also scored a pivotal goal in a 1-1 draw with Huddersfield in the Premier League before the international break.

Calvert-Lewin can play in either wide or central attacking positions, but may still behind himself stuck behind striker Cenk Tosun for his favoured position.

Schneiderlin has detailed how the England Under-21 international – who earns £12,000-a-week, according to Spotrac.com – is vital to Marco Silva’s side and paid him huge praise when mentioning his physical presence.

“We know that he (Calvert-Lewin) is a very good player, with good presence in the box,” Schneiderlin said, as quoted by the club’s official website.

“We needed him to score [against Huddersfield] and to produce a goal that could get us a point, which he did.

“That presence he has is useful when you are trying to break teams down. You need it either when you are playing on the floor or in the air.

“Against Huddersfield he was really impressive in the air. Strong players like that are very important when you are playing against a side that sit very deep.”

Calvert-Lewin is a rapidly developing talent that has impressed during the early stages of Silva’s reign and could have a huge future at Goodison Park if he continues.

The English striker chipped in with a valuable eight goals and seven assists last season for the Merseyside club, but will be keen to show progress this year by bettering that.
