Well, Liverpool are heading back to Hungary.
The Reds are gearing up to conclude their tie with Leipzig in the last 16 of the Champions League next Wednesday after winning the first leg 2-0 in Budapest last month.
And UEFA have this morning confirmed that the second leg will also take place at the Puskas Arena, which has hosted quite a few European outings in 2021 already due to coronavirus restrictions.
The first leg represented the Bundesliga club’s home fixture and therefore Liverpool have two away goals as a cushion in their bid to reach the quarter-final.
Here’s how Gary Lineker reacted to the news on Twitter this morning.
Before that though, Jurgen Klopp’s side host Chelsea at Anfield in the Premier League tonight, before welcoming Fulham to Merseyside on Sunday afternoon.
Liverpool are sixth in the table and two points behind West Ham in the race for Champions League qualification.
If the Reds want to compete in that competition again next season, finishing inside the top four is by far the most likely route back into the tournament.
Yes, they could win the Champions League this year and lord knows they’re big favourites to reach the last eight, but there’s no denying that defensive issues have destroyed their chances of retaining the Premier League title and it takes a brave man to back them to reign supreme in Europe with an ever-changing back four.
