Arsenal fans have reacted on Twitter to Nicklas Bendtner retiring from professional football.
The 33-year-old, who was a bit of a cult hero amongst supporters, has hung up his boots, as posted by the Daily Mail.
Bendtner was last seen donning the colours of Tårnby FF in his home country of Denmark, but the final whistle has been blown on a career spanning nearly two decades.
A career that started at Arsenal in 2005, the popular figure once claimed that he was ‘one of the best strikers in the world’.
Arsenal fans have lauded their former player following the news and expressed their surprise that he’s still 33.
The former Nottingham Forest and Birmingham City player may not have lived up to expectations or his own hype during his career.
But one thing is for sure, he remains a memorable figure amongst supporters, including those at Arsenal.
His goal against Tottenham, moments after coming off from the bench, will live long in the memory of those at the Emirates, as well as his time at the club.
It will be interesting to see what the Dane does with his career now and whether he dips his talents into coaching.
Mikel Arteta needs a bit of help at the Emirates, doesn’t he? What a duo that would be!
