Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has posted on his Instagram story there is ‘more to come’ from Liverpool’s Sadio Mane after he matched his Premier League goalscoring record.
On Saturday, Mane scored for Liverpool during their 3-1 win over Norwich City – his 104th goal in England’s top-flight and it was some overhead kick from the 29-year-old.
That’s the same number Drogba managed during his days at Chelsea, with Liverpool’s flying winger doing it three games less.
Of course, during his days in the Premier League, Drogba was much better than his numbers suggest given the all-round ability to his game.
Added with that, he was a big-game player and produced in finals time and time again.
Mane recently helped Senegal win the Africa Cup of Nations and he has put his name up with some of the greatest in African football.
There’s no doubt that Drogba’s name is also up there with some of the greats, as Mane has a chance to elevate his status even further.
Given his AFCON triumph, Mane will want to add further trophies to his cabinet and he has that chance this season.
Liverpool are still in all four competitions, including the League Cup final this week, as well as closing the gap in the Premier League title race.
