A Facebook group urging Crystal Palace to sign defender Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool now has more than 840 members.

The group, called ‘Steve Parish – Please sign Mamadou Sakho’, is directed at Palace co-owner and chairman, Parish, in a bid to convince him to sign Sakho permanently.

The centre-back joined the Eagles on-loan in January from Anfield and was an instant hit at Selhurst Park, helping the club to five wins and four clean-sheets from the eight Premier League matches he featured in.

In fact, despite playing so little for the South London side in comparison to others in the squad, Sakho was shortlisted for the Player of the Year award – which was eventually won by Wilfried Zaha.

While the France international’s time with the Reds looks to be up, the Metro reported that Southampton could be his next destination with Juergen Klopp willing to use the defender as part of a deal to sign Virgil van Dijk.

However, there is clearly a large section of Palace fans who are extremely keen to see Sakho back in a red and blue shirt next term, with a message in the group stating; “Steve Parish has to sign Mamadou Sakho. Let’s see how many people we can get to join this group and let Steve know!”
