Speculation has mounted in recent weeks that Arsenal want to sign former Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen.
According to a Corriere dello Sport report in Italy, the Inter Milan midfielder is on the Gunners’ radar one year after quitting Spurs for Serie A.
Arsenal are crying out for a creative player after scoring just 11 goals in 13 Premier League games this season, leaving them 15th in the table.
But if rumours are believed, that player will not be Eriksen.
Calciomercato has reported on Thursday that Arsenal have rejected the chance to bring the Denmark international back to North London.
The report adds that Inter offered the struggling star to the Emirates Stadium side but they turned have turned it down.
It’s a gutsy move by the Gunners, if it’s true.
With Mesut Ozil exiled and probably not being recalled in January, this is a dire situation for Arsenal. They badly need a number 10 – at least one – during the winter window.
And if you’re turning down Eriksen, somebody with 18 more goals and eight more assists in the Premier League than Ozil, then it has to be considered a gamble.
