Jamie Carragher says it looks like Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold has ‘bulked up’, as he told Gary Neville on Instagram.

Whilst Alexander-Arnold is a genius going forward, he has always been questioned about his defending, but Carragher thinks that has now improved.

Over the weekend, the 23-year-old completed the set by winning every domestic trophy possible when he lifted the FA Cup, which drew praise from Barcelona legend, Dani Alves.

For 120 minutes, he helped keep Chelsea at bay and perhaps answered a few critics that he can deal with the defensive side of the game.

What has contributed to that improvement? Well, Carragher feels him looking ‘more like a real man in that shirt’ has played its part.

“I think his defending has improved,” said Carragher. “He was fantastic in the FA Cup final.

“He looks like he has bulked up and filled out, whether he is getting bigger or stronger. Or he is on a weights programme.

“He looks a lot more like a real man in that shirt now. When he’s defending, he didn’t have the power. He will never have the full power of a Reece James or a Kyle Walker.

“But he’s a lot stronger in his body, so when somebody is running at him, he can get that shoulder and arm across. I have noticed that a lot more in the last four or five months, his defending improving.”

VINICIUS JR VS ALEXANDER-ARNOLD IN CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL

Two of Europe’s biggest and most historic clubs will lock horns in the Champions League final in 11 days time.

Alexander-Arnold has an ample chance to shut people up if he can keep Real Madrid’s flying machine, Vinicius Junior at bay.

The 21-year-old has been one of the most improved players in Europe during these past 12 months and has played a key role in Madrid reaching the final.

If Alexander-Arnold empties his pockets at the end of the Champions League final and Real Madrid’s superstar comes flying out, then the Englishman would have done his job.
