More Everton signings? Walcott deal hints Allardyce is about to change his January transfer plans

Everton have tied up the signing of Arsenal’s Theo Walcott.

Everton tied up their second of the January transfer window on Wednesday evening, as the club confirmed the arrival of forward Theo Walcott from Arsenal.

The Toffees were showing signs of turning the corner under Sam Allardyce, but four straight defeats in all competitions mean that more signings may be planned.

Allardyce brought in striker Cenk Tosun from Besiktas earlier this month, and has now added another attacking option to his ranks in Walcott.

With almost £50million spent on the pair, it’s unclear just how much more money Allardyce will get to spend this month, but he certainly seems set to chance his transfer plans.

Back in December, Allardyce told The Independent that he didn’t see Everton signing more than two players this month, feeling that his squad didn’t need any more than a couple of additions.

However, Allardyce now has two players in, and there are still holes to fill in the Everton squad, suggesting that he may go back on his initial plans and bring in more new signings than planned.

Another left back is an absolute must given Leighton Baines’ injury struggles this season, and with no recognised cover, Allardyce must now prioritise a left back, and leaving the transfer window without one would be a huge failure.

Additionally, another midfielder – possibly Sevilla’s Steven N’Zonzi – appears to be on Allardyce’s wish list too after Morgan Schneiderlin’s poor campaign, meaning Everton may end up with four signings rather than Allardyce’s planned two.
