Juventus have been shaken by the news that their big summer signing Alvaro Morata has suffered a knee injury.
Spanish striker Alvaro Morata has only just arrived at Juventus but he’s already facing a spell on the sidelines.
The talented marksman was the Old Lady’s big transfer target and signed for the Italian champions for £15.8 million despite apparent interest from Arsenal and Liverpool.
But Morata’s pre-season preparations with Juventus have come to an abrupt stop before they even got started as he is in hospital with a knee injury sustained during his first training session in Turin.
The injury came about after a collision between Morata and goalkeeper Rubinho during a training game.
The 21-year-old posted a picture from his hospital bed on Instagram with the comment: ‘For those who laugh at the misfortunes of others… a very big kiss and good luck in life!’
Morata will undergo scans and tests later today to give a definite idea of the extent of the damage but it doesn’t appear to be a long-term problem, which will be a relief for Juventus.
However, it still comes as a blow for the Bianconeri who may have to start their Serie A title defence without their new striker.
