Morata to be welcome gift for Allegri, should arrive today

Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is set to complete a move to Juventus today despite the managerial turmoil at the club.

Alvaro Morata is expected to become a Juventus player today despite suggestions the deal could stall after the departure of Antonio Conte.

Morata was reportedly a target for Arsenal and Liverpool, but the Spanish striker set his heart on joining the Italian champions.

However, Juventus were left reeling when coach Conte, who had won three consecutive Italian titles, quit unexpectedly and it was mooted that the Old Lady’s transfer dealings could be affected.

But Morata seems happy to complete the move and work under new boss Massimiliano Allegri, who has been given a lukewarm reception by the fans in Turin.

La Gazzetta dello Sport labels Morata ‘a gift for Max’ and insists that the 21-year-old will arrive at Juventus headquarters later today to put pen to paper and end the speculation over his future.

The Italian newspaper also believes that a deal for Manchester United defender Patrice Evra is done and will be made official shortly.

Juventus may also try and make moves for Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku and Manchester City’s Matija Nastasic, who is also wanted by Inter and Roma.

The Bianconeri are still smarting from losing out on Argentine forward Juan Iturbe, who was set to sign but opted to join Roma instead.
