Elder has joined Brentford on a season-long loan
Leicester City’s Callum Elder has told Brentford’s official website that the recommendation of teammate Liam Moore was a key factor in his decision to join the Bees.
The full-back has already spent time away with Mansfield Town and Peterborough United during his career, and is looking forward to the prospect of testing himself in the second tier of English football, after completing a season-long loan deal on Friday.
Elder is yet to make a single first team appearance for the Foxes, but arrives in West London having already consulted Leicester teammate Moore, who spent two separate spells at Brentford in 2013 and 2015.
“When I heard about the opportunity to come to Brentford he [Moore] gave me some good advice. He said it was a great set-up here and told me to definitely take it,” Elder told Brentford’s official website.
“I love to get forward and I can already tell by training that the gaffer wants to attack teams and I definitely want to be part of that.”
Elder was given an 81-minute run-out during Brentford’s 1-1 pre-season friendly draw with Millwall on Saturday, and with the likes of Newcastle United and Aston Villa set to visit Griffin Park this season, he feels it is a good time to be making the step up to regular Championship football.
He added: “There are some huge clubs that have come down from the Premier League.
“I can’t wait to get stuck into the season and hopefully have a good go with the club.”
One man that looks unlikely to be at the club next term is winger Akaki Gogia, with Get West London claiming he is edging closer to completing a move to SG Dynamo Dresden.
