The Stoke City midfielder is exactly the kind of leader Leeds United need in the centre of the park.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk has an interesting few weeks ahead of him, but assuming he remains at Elland Road next season – which looks increasingly likely – he needs to set about laying the groundwork for a successful summer transfer window as soon as possible.
One way to do that is via free signings, with Monk knowing the best way to convince quality players to join him at Elland Road is to grab a couple as early as possible.
Arguably the pick of the bunch in terms of soon-to-be free agents suited to Leeds is Stoke City midfielder Charlie Adam, and Monk should be doing everything in his power to convince the 31-year-old to spurn his other suitors – of which there are likely to be many – and join the Leeds revolution.
The Whites need experience, leadership and, most importantly, creativity in the centre of the park and Adam has that in abundance.
If Leeds could announce a deal for Adam as soon as his contract at Stoke expires, it would make a statement to the rest of the Championship as well as to their other targets.

Adam may not be a superstar name but he is a top quality player who could take the second tier by storm, and footballers are often tempted by those who have gone before them.
Only time will tell how this plays out, but the free transfer market could be the perfect opportunity for Monk not only to bag some bargains, but also to ensure the feel-good factor returns to Leeds as soon as the current campaign concludes.
