Leeds United are on the verge of their seventh summer signing.
According to a report from the Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds United manager Garry Monk is planning to use imminent new loan signing Pablo Hernandez as a number 10 this season.
The 31-year-old is said to have agreed a six-month loan deal at Elland Road with a permanent move set for January 2017. But despite featuring regularly on the wing for much of his career, he looks set to operate centrally for the Whites as they bid to add more goals to their side.
The news will no doubt be welcomed by Hernandez, who told the South Wales Evening Post back in 2014 how important his change of position had been for his upturn in form at Swansea City.
It was Monk who switched the Spaniard from out wide to the number 10 role at the Liberty Stadium and at the time Hernandez said, “I’m happy with Garry. I’ve played a lot for him in a new position and I’m happy.”
Given Leeds already have the likes of Kemar Roofe, Jordan Botaka, Hadi Sacko and Stuart Dallas to play in wide areas it is no surprise that Hernandez looks set for a different role.
If he can supply the ammunition for Leeds’ forwards on a regular basis, the Whites could be set for a very exciting and ultimately successful campaign.
