Who looks set to take over at Crystal Palace, Hull, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Sunderland and Watford?
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka
With playoff finals still to play the 2016/17 English league season has not even concluded, and yet already the managerial merry-go-round is up and running.
Resignations and sackings at some of the country’s biggest teams has sent speculation into overdrive and it seems as if many of those managers will be swapping clubs.
Using the latest odds from Sky Bet, here’s who could be in the dugouts at those clubs come the start of the new campaign.
Hull City manager Marco Silva
Crystal Palace – Marco Silva
Despite failing to keep Hull City in the Premier League, the way Silva turned things around at the KCOM Stadium has earned him many admirers and since Sam Allardyce decided to quit management to focus on his family, the Portuguese is the odds-on favourite to succeed him at Selhurst Park.
Hull City – Nigel Adkins
Apparently, despite his last job being guiding Sheffield United to their lowest league position since 1983 (11th in League One), Adkins is the clear favourite to take charge at Hull. The 52-year-old did admittedly once take Southampton to the top flight following back-to-back promotion.
Sheffield United manager Nigel Adkins
Leeds United – Aitor Karanka
Sacked by Middlesbrough in March with the club in the Premier League relegation zone, the Spaniard has been out of a job since and now Leeds seem to think he is the man to guide them back to the big time as well.
Middlesbrough – Garry Monk
The man who just resigned as Leeds boss looks set to replace the man who was at Boro and is now the favourite to replace him at Elland Road – keeping up? Monk finished seventh with the Whites last term and having previously been in the top tier with Swansea City he will want to get back there as soon as he can.
Burton manager Nigel Clough
Sunderland – Nigel Clough
After guiding Burton Albion to the Championship and avoiding relegation and securing their highest ever position in the process, Clough has quickly moved to become the favourite to take charge at the Stadium of Light following the sacking of David Moyes.
Watford – Claudio Ranieri
Out of a job since February, Ranieri could be tempted back into management with the Hornets just 12 months after winning the Premier League title with Leicester City. Owned by fellow Italians, the Pozzo family, the 65-year-old would become the ninth managerial appointment at Vicarage Road since their 2012 takeover.
