Leeds United beat Nottingham Forest 2-0 on Wednesday evening.

Leeds United manager Garry Monk and assistant boss Pep Clotet have taken to Twitter after the Whites defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at Elland Road on Wednesday evening.

The Whites went into the game looking for a response having lost 3-2 away at Yorkshire rivals Barnsley on Saturday evening, and they got just what they wanted with a vital three points.

Leeds didn’t have it all their own way, as Forest frustrated the hosts until Chris Wood struck the opening goal – his 20th strike of the season already – on 55 minutes.

Monk’s men then made it 2-0 as Souleymane Doukara smashed home an unstoppable volley with just 15 minutes to play, meaning it was another home win and another clean sheet for Leeds.

Leeds are now back up into third place in the Championship table, seven points adrift of the automatic promotion places, and eight points clear of seventh-placed Derby County, meaning a play-off place is now looking likely for the Whites.

Wednesday’s victory was the perfect response to the weekend defeat at Barnsley, and manager Monk took to Twitter after the final whistle to discuss his side’s performance.

Monk admitted that it was important to ‘show a reaction’ after losing to Barnsley, and urged everybody to remain focused on working hard and improving ahead of this weekend’s FA Cup tie against non-league Sutton United.

Monk’s assistant Pep Clotet also took to Twitter after the game, celebrating six home wins in a row with six clean sheets, even posting a photo of Brazilian legend Rivaldo at Elland Road to show how even the best have struggled during trips to Leeds.
