Leeds United’s star left-back Charlie Taylor will miss this weekend’s fixture against Sheffield Wednesday, head coach Garry Monk has confirmed.
Speaking to a press conference relayed by the club’s Twitter feed, Monk declared that Taylor has been ruled out.
Taylor has been out of action since mid-December but after returning to training this week Leeds had hoped optimistically that the defender could be fit for this weekend.
Garry Monk’s comments indicate Leeds are not going to take a chance on the 23-year-old, which may be in part due to Gaetano Berardi’s solid form.
The Swiss defender has filled in capably in Taylor’s absence, as he may have to do next season with the youngster out of contract this summer.
Leeds’ match with Sheffield Wednesday is a pivotal one in the play-off race, a battle between fifth and sixth place with the teams level on points.
The Whites won the earlier fixture between the teams at Hillsborough, earning a surprise 2-0 win.
