Michael Stewart has praised Rangers winger Ryan Kent in The Scottish Sun, and believes that the reported £7 million the Gers paid to Liverpool for him was money well spent.
The former Manchester United and Hibernian midfielder made the comments ahead of the Old Firm derby between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park this afternoon.
Rangers winger Kent will be a key player for Steven Gerrard’s side in the Scottish Premiership game today.
Stewart wrote in The Scottish Sun: “Kent’s going to be huge for Rangers. You could argue he is their key man. When he first came up here you could see he was a quality player. But the question was, could he come up with big moments when they were needed?
“Last year he started to score and create that wee bit more. And as time has gone on he has started to deliver those big moments. You can certainly see now why they paid big money to get him from Liverpool.
“I said in the summer I was not convinced Ianis Hagi was worth what Rangers paid. But in Kent’s case I totally get why they went for him. It has been money well spent.”

Kent joined Rangers on loan from Liverpool in the summer of 2018, and the winger did well for the Gers.
The former England Under-20 international scores six goals and provided as many assists in the Scottish Premiership during the 2018-19 season, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
The Gers made the deal permanent in the summer of 2019 for a transfer fee reported by The Times to be worth £7 million.
The winger scored seven goals in the league, and scored one goal and provided two assists in the Europa League for the Ibrox club last season, and so far this campaign, he has scored four goals and provided three assists in the league, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.
