The Tottenham Hotspur defender is currently on loan at Roma.
Reports on the continent this week have claimed that Sevilla’s sporting director Monchi is to leave the Spanish club this summer and take up a similar role at Italian side AS Roma.
It has been reported by several sources in Italy, including La Gazzetta dello Sport, that Monchi is on his way to the Italian capital in the summer after a successful meeting with Roma hierarchy in London.
Sevilla Sporting Director Monchi.
It is a great deal for Roma, but what could it mean for a Tottenham Hotspur player currently on loan in the Italian capital?
Federico Fazio has been a success with the Giallorossi and Monchi will now him well from their time working together at Sevilla.

But in fact Monchi and Fazio’s last spell together didn’t end well.
Fazio joined back up with Sevilla on loan from Spurs for the second half of last season but it was certainly not as impressive as his first spell at the club.
He was sent off 25 minutes into his second debut for the club and struggled to find his form, playing just six times.
It was then reported by ABC de Sevilla that the Spanish club even considered terminating his loan early – but could not afford the fee.

So Monchi may have mixed feelings about the talents of Fazio, who has a buying option included into his deal at the Stadio Olimpico.
Time will tell if Fazio heads to Roma or not, but the arrival of Monchi puts an interesting new spin on the situation.
