The Monaco forward would surely be a real asset for Liverpool.
Reds boss Jürgen Klopp will be desperate to bolster his attacking ranks before the transfer window slams shut on Wednesday night, having sold Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona earlier this month.
Liverpool do still have a fearsome frontline, with Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, but if even just one of those players suffers a long-term injury, Klopp would be struggling.
With this in mind, an interesting option for the German could be Monaco forward Keita Balde Diao.
The 22-year-old has enjoyed a solid, if not spectacular, season in Ligue one, scoring six goals and chipping in with three assists in 16 outings thus far.
He has been deployed anywhere from the centre-forward role to the left wing position, and he has really impressed with his blistering pace and the direct manner in which he goes about his business.
Keita would provide Klopp with a totally different option through the middle, should Firmino suffer an injury, or even if Liverpool need to mix things up in a specific game.
The Brazilian striker is a deep-lying forward, and often drops into midfield to pick up the ball. He offers little threat in behind the opposition’s defence, and that’s where the Senegal international would bring something extra to Klopp’s side.
Keita joined Monaco from Lazio in the summer, in a deal believed to be worth in the region of €30 million (£26.3 million), although it is unclear as to whether the French side would be interested in selling him.
Liverpool should test the waters, nevertheless, and make an enquiry as to his availability before the transfer window slams shut.
If Klopp managers to bring him to Anfield, it could turn out to be a signing of real significance for the Reds.
