Momo Sissoko has praised his former manager Rafael Benitez.

Free agent midfielder Momo Sissoko has told Sky Sports that he thinks Newcastle United will be back in the Premier League next season.

Sissoko, 31, is currently on trial with West Bromwich Albion having left Shanghai Shenhua earlier this year, and he’s looking to earn a contract under Tony Pulis after featuring against Delhi Dynamos on Saturday.

The former Mali international has great experience having played for the likes of Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain, and a move to West Brom would be a return to the Premier League for Sissoko.

Sissoko made 51 Premier League appearances for Liverpool having joined from Valencia in 2005, when he followed Rafael Benitez from Spain to Anfield.

Benitez is currently working in the Championship with Newcastle United, and has been charged with the task of taking the Magpies back to the Premier League following last season’s relegation.

The Spaniard opened the new campaign with two league defeats, but has now won three in a row, meaning Newcastle sit fourth in the Championship table.

Newcastle were the pre-season favourites for the Championship title, and whilst it was a slow start, they’re starting to pick up pace – and have one of the best squads in the division after some considerable work in the transfer market this summer.

Now, Sissoko has predicted that Newcastle will be back in the top flight next season ‘for sure’ under Benitez, telling Sky Sports that his former Liverpool boss knows how to manage teams to success.

“I think next season they will be back to the Premier League for sure because Rafa is a very good manager,” said Sissoko. “He knows how to manage teams so for sure I think they will be back in the Premier League,” he added.
