The Reds legend, who made 239 appearances for the club, admits winning either trophy is a “massive ask” but is optimistic following their good start.

Liverpool legend Jan Molby has claimed that his former side can go all the way in both the Premier League and Champions League.
The Reds currently sit top of the Premier League after they ran out 4-0 winners over Bournemouth last weekend, while Manchester City fell to a 2-0 loss at Chelsea.
Jurgen Klopp’s charges are also still in contention for the knockout stages of the Champions League, although Tuesday’s final matchday against Napoli will be a real test of nerves.
According to UEFA’s official website, if Group C rivals Paris Saint-Germain in their game at Red Star Belgrade, Liverpool must beat the Serie A giants 1-0 or by two goals or more.
Meanwhile, anything short of victory will see the Reds either drop into the Europa League or out of Europe altogether for this season.
Molby – who made 239 appearances for Liverpool between 1984 and 1996 (Transfermarkt) – is optimistic on both fronts, although he thinks it’ll be a “massive ask”.

“I happen to think Liverpool have a chance of winning both those trophies,” the Dane told the Sunday Post. “If they get through the group stages, no one will be queuing up to play them in the knockout stages, believe me.
“You look at Manchester City and teams in the Champions League, and perhaps they will not get there as quickly as they want… it is going to be a massive ask. But they have made a good start and if they can find an extra 10% then it is definitely game on.”
Following the midweek game against the Serie A giants, Liverpool have another big test awaiting domestically as none other than Manchester United come to Anfield.
