With Major League Soccer clubs eager to land their next marquee superstar, Mohamed Salah is the name being rumoured.

Mohamed Salah is one of the most coveted free agents in world football after departing Liverpool.

Many believe that the Egyptian will end up in Saudi Arabia this summer, but pretty much every continent is chasing his signature, so it won’t be a simple race.

The MLS has already proven its pulling power by securing major international arrivals, including Robert Lewandowski to Chicago Fire and Casemiro to Inter Miami. And with Lionel Messi already operating in the MLS, we’re now starting to see more big names make their way to North America.

Mohamed Salah is considering the MLS

Fabrizio Romano is the go-to man for transfer news and he’s offered the MLS hope of being able to land Mohamed Salah this summer, though it won’t be straightforward.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he shared this update.

“There are still significant differences between Mohamed Salah and Besiktas regarding salary and contract terms. No agreement has been reached between the parties yet. Salah is also considering other options, primarily the MLS and Saudi Arabia. Darwin Núñez is not currently on Besiktas’ transfer agenda.”

Major League Soccer’s highest earners

Major League Soccer’s salary structure is dominated by Lionel Messi, whose $25 million base salary and $28.3 million in total guaranteed compensation from Inter Miami keep him ahead of the rest.

LAFC star Son Heung-min stands as the second-highest earner with $11.1 million in guaranteed pay, followed closely by Inter Miami midfielder Rodrigo De Paul at $9.6 million.

San Diego FC’s Hirving Lozano and Atlanta United’s Miguel Almiron also feature among the league’s top earners, commanding over $9.3 million and $7.8 million respectively as Designated Player spending continues to target top international talent.
