Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Mohamed Salah has carved out a phenomenal legacy for the club.

However, this season, Mohamed Salah’s relationship with Liverpool has seemingly taken a turn for the worse.

After all, Salah dropped a bombshell interview earlier this season when Arne Slot benched him for three straight games. Since then, the Egyptian winger has been linked with a move away from England.

Keeping that in mind, former footballer-turned-analyst Ian Paul Joy thinks Salah should take his talents to the Saudi Pro League.

Ian Paul Joy thinks Mohamed Salah would be an ‘unreal signing’ for the Saudi Pro League

Last season, Salah had the best individual year of his Liverpool career, as he had 29 goals and 18 assists. Salah’s 47 goal contributions helped Liverpool claim the Premier League title as well.

As a result, Slot’s treatment of Salah is mindboggling as it has had an impact on the talented winger’s form.

With the 33-year-old expected to leave Liverpool in the winter transfer window, Joy suggested a move to the SPL on CBS Sports.

“I think both would take it right now. I think Mohamed Salah would be an unreal signing for Saudi Pro League.

“I really do. I mean, you’ve got to think of the language that he speaks that can connect to so many people in that region,” Joy said.

He added: “If you’re trying to grow the game, not necessarily worldwide, especially for the SPL, the Saudi Pro League, you need to have someone who can speak your language, and Mohamed Salah offers so much, but he’s also an icon. He’s a world footballing icon.”

There’s no doubt that Salah is an icon, but is he ready for a move to the SPL? It is often considered a retirement home for the top stars in the world.

Mohamed Salah could be ‘bigger’ than Cristiano Ronaldo if he joins the SPL, says Ian Paul Joy

To further bolster his suggestion, Joy believes if Salah takes his talent to Saudi Arabia, he’ll have a bigger impact on the league than Cristiano Ronaldo.

“As you know, Mohamed Salah will be a wanted man from the Saudi Pro League, as far as I’m concerned,” Joy continued.

“They will throw a lot of money at him, and I do be thinking, because of the language and equality of player in the profile he has in that region and around the world, he would be bigger than Cristiano Ronaldo. I honestly believe that,” the former footballer concluded.

Ronaldo joined SPL’s Al-Nassr in 2022 following his fallout with Manchester United. Is Salah on the same path? Fans will find out soon enough, with the winter transfer window kicking off in less than 20 days.
