Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has said on Sky Sports Premier League (6:44pm, October 16, 2022) that his side will challenge Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
Salah made the comments after Liverpool’s win against Manchester City at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday evening.
The Egypt international forward scored the only goal of the match in the second half.
Liverpool are now eighth in the Premier League table with 13 points from nine matches.
Arsenal are at the top of the standings with 27 points from 10 games, while defending champions City are second with 23 points from 10 games, level on points with third-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Mohamed Salah on Liverpool challenging Arsenal and Manchester City
Salah said: “Personally I always love to play for the title. We need to focus more and take one game at a time.
“We don’t have to feel any pressure that there is still a gap between us and first and second, but of course, we are going to play for the title.”
Title challenge from the Reds?
In our view, Liverpool are unlikely to win the Premier League title this season.
While we think that it is very encouraging from Salah to say that Liverpool are aiming to win the title, we think that the Merseyside club need to concentrate on finishing in the UEFA Champions League places.
Yes, City lost today, but it is just one match.
Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are going strong, and Liverpool really cannot expect all of them to slip up.
