Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has told Gianluca Di Marzio that it would be ‘beautiful’ to see Daniele De Rossi in the Premier League – and hinted he’d like him at Anfield.

De Rossi, 35, was born in Rome and came up through the Roma ranks, first joining the club back in 2000 having spent a short time with Ostia Mare.

The holding midfielder has been the heartbeat of the Roma side for years now, and has racked up more than 600 appearances, scoring 63 goals for the club.

De Rossi only ever won three trophies with Roma, and the club have announced that his contract won’t extended this summer, meaning he’ll be a free agent in a matter of weeks.

Sunday’s home win over Parma was De Rossi’s big send off, and he was hauled off with eight minutes to play in order to receive an incredible, emotional goodbye from the Roma fans who have been watching him for nearly 20 years.

Now, the Italian ace finds himself needing a new club, and Liverpool’s Salah – who played with De Rossi at Roma – has suggested that a Premier League move would be ‘beautiful’, admitting that he’d love to play with him again, hinting he wants him at Liverpool.

Salah noted that De Rossi is a legend at Roma and in Italian football, branding him one of the best he’s ever played with – and it remains to be seen whether Jurgen Klopp fancies a punt on the combative veteran for absolutely nothing.

“He is a legend of the club and of Italian football, not just because he is a great friend of mine,” said Salah. “I don’t know what to say, I saw the game and the affection of the fans who saluted him. He made many sacrifices for his team, I would like to thank him, he is one of the best of which I have played with. Good luck for the future.”

“A future for him in the Premier League? It would be beautiful, but I don’t know if it’s possible. It would be pleasing for me to play with him again, he is an optimal player,” he added.
