Some Liverpool fans are starting to get very, very worried about the contract situation involving Mohamed Salah.
The £34m man becomes a free agent in June 2023, and by the sounds of things, negotiations between Liverpool and the Egyptian have stalled.
We were given an update on the situation earlier today by Jürgen Klopp, who urged supporters not to panic.
As quoted by the Liverpool Echo, the 54-year-old said: “Mo definitely expects this club to be ambitious. We were in the last few years and we are. We cannot do much more. It’s Mo’s decision.
“Nothing bad to say about it. It’s fine from my point of view. It’s exactly like it should be in this moment in time. Everything is set. Nothing happened further, no signing, no rejection or whatever.”
Despite that appeal for calm, there is one thing making the situation all the more nerve-wracking for the Anfield faithful…
What’s the story?

Well, Ramy Abbas Issa – Salah’s agent – isn’t making the situation any better.
The Colombian tends to post cryptic messages every now and again, which are filling the supporters with anxiety.
Even today, Issa simply posted a number of laughing emojis, presumably in response to Klopp’s comments about Salah’s contract – in our view, that should worry the fans.
All it does is make the Liverpool fans think something is going on behind the scenes, and it could also make some feel as if Klopp isn’t giving them the whole story, leading to a lack of trust.
The situation is worrying enough without Issa stirring things up.
Liverpool must sort Mohamed Salah contract soon
In our view, this has to be sorted before the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
Distractions are rife in football, and Klopp doesn’t need the media asking him about Salah for the entirety of next season while Liverpool aim to win silverware.

Furthermore, it could also affect transfer plans.
If Liverpool try to sign a player while Salah’s future remains uncertain, it could cause the target to wonder why the Egyptian isn’t desperate to stay.
Simply put, this has to be sorted before the 2022/23 season starts in Autumn.
