Karen Carney has praised Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah on BBC Sport for his goal against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League on Sunday.

The BBC Sport pundit was left stunned by the way Salah scored his goal for Liverpool in the 2-2 draw with Chelsea in London.

The Egypt international forward found the back of the net in the 26th minute of the Premier League game.

Salah collected a pass from Trent Alexander-Arnold, took a wonderful touch, completely hoodwinked Marcos Alonso, and then coolly finished past Edouard Mendy.

It was a world-class goal from a world-class player, and former Arsenal WFC and Chelsea FC Women player Carney was impressed.

Praise for Mo Salah v Chelsea

Carney told BBC Sport: “That is absolutely ridiculous from Mohamed Salah. It is unbelievable, you just have to see it.

“It comes to one v one with Marcos Alonso, Alonso’s thinking he’s going to cut in on his left foot, but he just drops his left shoulder, which really twists Alonso and dinks it over the keeper. That is just ruthless.

“The only other player I’ve seen do that drop off the shoulder as good as that it Lionel Messi.”

World’s best player?

Is Salah’s the best player in the world right now?

Many would say so, including former Liverpool defender and Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.

There is a strong argument to it.

Just look at the stats.

Salah has scored 16 goals and provided nine assists in 20 Premier League games for Liverpool already this season.

The Liverpool no. 11 has scored seven goals in six Champions League appearances so far this campaign.
