Liverpool have made it to the final four in the Champions League, but their star man’s claim is still bold given the teams that remain in the competition.
Liverpool fans are dreaming big after reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League with their 5-1 aggregate defeat of Manchester City.
And the enormity of their achievement hit home on Friday when the draw for the last four was carried out – pairing the Reds with Roma.
Unsurprisingly, much of the attention – as ever – focused on Mohamed Salah in the aftermath, the Egypt winger having left Roma for Merseyside last summer.
In a season in which Salah cannot stay out of the headlines for all the right reasons, comments soon emerged of him making a very bold prediction, too.
Even with champions Real Madrid still in the competition, 39-goal Salah believes Liverpool can win the Champions League this season.
“We can [win it] – we are in the semi-final,” he told CNN. “I always say that we take it step by step but we are in the semifinal, anything can happen.”
After beating Manchester City home and away, Liverpool supporters will need no encouragement to dream of a sixth major European title. If he is confident, Liverpool fans should be, too. Even at this stage of the competition, no defence will be able to live with an on-fire Salah.
