Arsenal picked up a big win on Wednesday night as they beat rivals Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The Gunners have faced a major backlash having been dumped out of the Europa League by Villarreal in the semi-finals last Thursday.

They hit back by beating West Bromwich Albion 3-1, but only a win over rivals Chelsea would really begin to get fans back on side.

They got that win as Emile Smith Rowe profited from a Jorginho error to give Arsenal a first-half lead – an advantage they never surrendered.

Chelsea had 19 shots on goal and had an equaliser ruled out in the second half, failing to make their 68% possession count for a goal.

Arsenal stood firm and kept a clean sheet, giving them a double over the Blues this season – a small slice of bragging rights even though Chelsea are in the Champions League final.

Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny played a key role in the win, and took to Twitter to post just three words – ‘London is Red’.

The tweet had Arsenal fans buzzing, but Chelsea fans were pretty wound up, replying by suggesting that the Gunners were second best last night even though they won.

Elneny won’t care; the three points were all that mattered, and he has every right to celebrate them.
