Newcastle United failed to win against Birmingham City in the Championship last weekend.

Newcastle United midfielder Mohamed Diame has told The Chronicle that he and his teammates want to thank the fans for their support to the team last weekend.
The Magpies played out a goalless draw with Birmingham City away from home at St. Andrew’s in the Championship last Saturday afternoon.
According to The Chronicle, as many as 3,299 Newcastle fans attended the match.
Diame, who is 29 years of age, has thanked the Newcastle fans for their support to the team.
The former Senegal international midfielder has also commented on his playing position against Birmingham.
The former West Ham United and Hull City man was deployed in a deeper midfield role against the Blues.
“I try to do my best,” Diame told The Chronicle when asked about playing in a different position against Birmingham. “Even if I am not at the top of my level, I try for the team.
“The most important thing is to get our target which is promotion. After that we’ll see what happens next season.”
“We have to thank them again,” added the midfielder regarding the Newcastle fans. “Their support is amazing every single game. We just want to try to make them proud at the end of the season.”
Newcastle are at the top of the Championship table at the moment with 78 points from 38 matches.
Rafael Benitez’s side are a point clear of second-placed Brighton and Hove Albion and should be able to clinch an automatic promotion spot.
The Magpies will take on Wigan Athletic at St. James’ Park in the Championship after the international break.
